The road springs help in absorbing road shocks. Two types of springs are used in the suspension system, i.e.,
A Leaf Spring consists of a number of laminated leaves combined into one unit by means of a center bolt and rebound clips. The master or main leaf contains eyes at both ends, which provide connections for the spring to be fitted with the chassis frame by means of pins.
The following are the different types of leaf springs:
Coil Springs, also known as a helical spring, are used with the front independent suspension system usually provided with the cars. The springs from the shape of coil, that is why these are known as coil springs. They are made of an elastic material formed into the shape of a helix which returns to its natural length when unloaded. Coil springs are a special type of torsion spring, the material of the spring acts in torsion when the spring is compressed or extended.
